Réunion de trois musiciens nourris d'expériences éclectiques, le Clover Trio puise son inspiration dans des influences jazz, pop et rock. De ses compositions originales à la relecture de Isn’t She Lovely ou de Imagine, Harvest, le premier album du trio, invite à découvrir une musique au groove parfois hypnotique qui prend le risque de repousser sans cesse son point d’équilibre. De la rencontre entre ces personnalités singulières, unies par leur complicité, naît un univers contemplatif, élégant et intense. Le toucher sophistiqué et puissant de Damien Argentieri (orgue), connu pour ses collaborations avec notamment Lionel Loueke, Jean-Jacques Milteau ou Didier Lockwood, fusionne avec le jeu subtil de Sébastien Lanson (guitare), empreint de l’esprit tout de nuances et de contrastes de la côte ouest des Etats-Unis où il a passé dix ans auprès de l’orchestre de Louie Belson, mais aussi aux côtés de Jon Faddis ou encore de John Worley Jr. Sur ce dialogue complice plane le groove naturel de Benoît Raffin (batterie) qui fait de son art une aventure insolite, peaufinée auprès de Steve Potts, Pierre de Trégomain ou du Healing Orchestra de Paul Wacrenier.

He already had these qualities back in the day when we were in school together but now he’s at another level after living in the West coast for a moment. He has great coordination and independence between his left and right hand and a fluidity in his phrasing. The first thing I noticed listening to Benoist Raffin is he has a natural approach to the music. His way of playing is groovy, beautiful and effortless all at the same time. He’s colourful and supports the music in the right way. I like the integrity and the beautiful interaction of the Clover trio. The chemistry between the three musicians really brought the magic out.
