Laurent MAUR Quartet

Pour la sortie de l’album “Chef Larry”

En 1989, Laurent Maur commence sa carrière de musicien en faisant la manche à Paris. Pendant 4 ans il gagne sa vie au jour le jour avec son harmonica dans les couloirs du métro … 30 ans plus tard il aura donné plus de 500 concerts à travers le monde,vécu en Corée , en Chine , joué à la cité interdite de Beijing , à l’opera de Shanghai ,Guandong , Oulan Batour, au teatro Carreno de Caracas, à l’Olympia ... Cet album rend hommage à son ami Larry Smith Chef cuisinier de Chicago (1962/2016) .Le répertoire est composé d’arrangements de Chansons ou de jazz du répertoire français ainsi que de compositions avec un petit détour au Brésil (Jobim ) et au USA (Larry Goldings ,Donald Harrisson). Un must de l‘harmonica jazz sans frontière.

He's an intense player who's not only mastered the chromatic harmonica in terms of impressive technique but his ballad work (such as on « Benny’s dream" ) shows the kind of feeling that provides the perfect contrast to the blistering speed on display on cuts like « Indifference", a musette waltz played at breathtaking tempo. The backing by the rest of the quartet is excellent as well, making the entire album a delight to listen to.
