Le guitariste Nicolas Bourel sort son premier album de compositions, accompagné de Martin Berauer à la basse/Contrebasse et Daniel Dray à la batterie, après plusieurs années d'immersion dans le répertoire des standards de jazz américains. Guidé par Lenny Popkin, il étudie les grands maitres du jazz tels que Lennie Tristano, Lester Young, Charlie Christian ou Charlie Parker. Il nous présente ici un répertoire de compositions inspirées par son parcours et son amour tant pour la world music que la fusion. L’art de l’improvisation forme le coeur de la musique de Nicolas Bourel, que ce trio interprète avec sincérité, intensité et joie.
Guitarist Nicolas Bourel releases his first album with original compositions, accompanied by Martin Berauer on electric and upright bass and Daniel Dray on drums, after having explored the American jazz standard repertory for many years. Under the guidance of Lenny Popkin, he studied the music of jazz greats Lennie Tristano, Lester Young, Charlie Christian and Charlie Parker. He is presenting us a variety of compositions inspired by this musical background as well as his love for fusion and world music.The art of improvising stands at the center of Bourel's music, which this trio interprets with authenticity, intensity and joy.
