Stéphane Tsapis et Jonathan Orland ont un point commun : ils aiment franchir les frontières sonores pour s'affranchir des contraintes stylistiques et affirmer leur propre espace de liberté. Ils créent ainsi un univers onirique aux paysages variés, qui évoque les tableaux de Chagall où joie et mélancolie coexistent sans complexe. Le format du duo permet une conversation musicale tantôt intimiste, tantôt débridée, au cours de laquelle l'auditeur est invité à laisser libre cours à son imagination pour se laisser voyager, planer et rêver…Dans “Youkali” paru chez Cristal en 2022, Stéphane Tsapis et Jonathan Orland s'inspirent à la fois de musique yiddish, de musique des Balkans, du jazz d'avant-garde des années 60 ou encore de musique pop.
Stéphane Tsapis and Jonathan Orland have one thing in common: they like to cross sound boundaries to free themselves from stylistic constraints and affirm their own space of freedom. They thus create a dreamlike universe with varied landscapes, which evokes the paintings of Chagall where joy and melancholy coexist without complex. The format of the duo allows a musical conversation that is sometimes intimate, sometimes unbridled, during which the listener is invited to give free rein to his imagination to let himself travel, soar and dream... In "Youkali" published by Cristal in 2022, Stéphane Tsapis and Jonathan Orland are inspired by Yiddish music, Balkan music, avant-garde jazz of the 60s or even pop music.
