KARSON & SILBERMANN Quintet

Richard Silbermann a été bercé dans le jazz dès son plus jeune âge. Son album Spicy Street (2017), collection de compositions protéiformes, en est l’expression la plus aboutie. Josh Karson, chanteur new yorkais et parisien d’adoption, a longtemps pérégriné entre pop et blues avant de rencontrer lui aussi le jazz. Ce sont ces mélanges d’influences qui donnent toute la fraîcheur à leur collaboration. Alors que Josh pose sa voix et ses textes sur les morceaux instrumentaux de Spicy Street, Richard écrit les arrangements pour les compositions de Josh, ainsi que pour quelques reprises… pop. Le résultat est un jazz résolument populaire, communicatif, généreux, et espiègle. C’est sur la scène du Sunset que Josh et Richard ont choisi de lancer ce projet en quintet.

Richard Silbermann was raised to the sounds of jazz. His album Spicy Street (2017), a set of original compositions, is his most accomplished tribute to this music. Josh Karson, New York vocalist and Parisian by adoption, wrote and sang pop and blues for years before discovering the world of jazz. The fresh quality of their collaboration has everything to do with these wide-ranging influences: Josh sets the instrumental works on Spicy Street to vocals and lyrics, and Richard writes the arrangements for Josh’s compositions… and for a few pop covers. The resulting music is communicative, generous, mischievous and vibrant. Josh and Richard have chosen the Sunset jazz club to kick off this exciting new project with their quintet.
