Complices de longue date, membres fondateurs et leaders actifs du Zoot Collectif, le trompettiste Noé Codjia et le saxophoniste Neil Saidi ont partagé la scène des centaines de fois ces dernières années. Ils montent aujourd’hui un tout nouveau quintet pour donner vie à leurs nouvelles explorations. Entourés par une section rythmique de luxe composée du pianiste Noé Huchard, du contrebassiste italien Luca Fattorini et du batteur danois Malte Arndal, ils nous invitent à découvrir leur univers à travers leurs compositions, ainsi qu’à replonger une oreille dans un répertoire d’une incroyable richesse, celui des célèbres quintets qui ont marqué l’histoire du bop et du hard bop... Neil et Noé se lient d’amitié lors de leurs études à New York en 2015. A leur retour en France en 2016, ils fondent le Zoot Collectif avec d’autres musiciens français de leur génération, c’est le début d’une belle aventure. Les deux acolytes partagent un goût commun pour la composition et ont pu s’adonner à leur passion à travers les divers projets du Zoot Collectif : "Zoot Suite" une rencontre entre le Zoot Octet et un quatuor à cordes, mais aussi « Pannonica » un spectacle musical autour de la baronne du jazz Pannonica de Koenigswarter incarnée sur scène par Natalie Dessay, et plus récemment avec le projet « Zoot Symponique ! » pour lequel Noé et Neil composent chacun une pièce orchestrale dont la création s’est déroulée le 7 juin 2022 au Théâtre des Champs Elysées. Il y a quelques mois, Neil et Noé ont enregistré un disque avec le pianiste Alain Jean-Marie, pour lequel ils ont beaucoup d’admiration, de respect et d’affection.

Long-time accomplices, founding members and active leaders of the Zoot Collectif, trumpeter Noé Codjia and saxophonist Neil Saidi have shared the stage hundreds of times in recent years. They are now putting together a brand new quintet to bring their new explorations to life. Surrounded by a luxury rhythm section made up of pianist Noé Huchard, Italian double bassist Luca Fattorini and Danish drummer Malte Arndal, they invite us to discover their universe through their compositions, as well as to immerse an ear in a repertoire of a incredible richness, that of the famous quintets that have marked the history of bop and hard bop... Neil and Noé became friends during their studies in New York in 2015. On their return to France in 2016, they founded the Zoot Collectif with other French musicians of their generation is the beginning of a great adventure. The two acolytes share a common taste for composition and have been able to indulge their passion through the various Zoot Collectif projects: "Zoot Suite" an encounter between the Zoot Octet and a string quartet, but also "Pannonica" a musical show around the jazz baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter embodied on stage by Natalie Dessay, and more recently with the project “Zoot Symponique! for which Noé and Neil each compose an orchestral piece, the creation of which took place on June 7, 2022 at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. A few months ago, Neil and Noé recorded a disc with pianist Alain Jean-Marie, for which they have a lot of admiration, respect and affection.
