A Feast of Friends, « un banquet entre amis » : ce pourrait être une métaphore du jazz, qui se joue entre des personnalités qui, bien souvent, s’estiment et se côtoient aussi en dehors de la scène. Ce titre est évidemment une clé pour entendre cet album et ce répertoire de Samy Thiébault (Datant de 2014 NDLR), et qui a été un véritable tournant dans sa carrière, le propulsant à l’international et lui donnant un soutien critique et public très important. C’est aussi et surtout une citation, une formule chère à un poète chanteur célébré comme figure culte, dont le pouvoir d’envoûtement n’a pas faibli depuis sa disparition tragique, Jim Morrison, et à un groupe qui a hanté l’imaginaire musical de Samy Thiébault, The Doors, auquel renvoie le répertoire de ce disque.
A Feast of Friends, “a banquet between friends”: it could be a metaphor for jazz, which is played between personalities who, very often, respect each other and also rub shoulders with each other off the stage. This title is obviously a key to hearing this album and this repertoire by Samy Thiébault (Dating from 2014 Editor's note), and which was a real turning point in his career, propelling him internationally and giving him very significant critical and public support . It is also and above all a quote, a formula dear to a poet-singer celebrated as a cult figure, whose power of spell has not weakened since his tragic death, Jim Morrison, and to a group which has haunted the imagination musical by Samy Thiébault, The Doors, to which the repertoire of this disc refers.
