Pianiste moderne, improvisateur inspiré par les motifs de John Coltrane / McCoy Tyner / Keith Jarrett / Thelonious Monk / Chick Corea / Bill Evans / Randy Weston / Ornette Coleman…, Thibaud Mennillo est le petit-fils du pianiste jazz Roger Mennillo, formateur de toute une génération de pianistes. Le piano improvisé lui permet d’exploiter toutes ces sources d’inspiration à la fois mélodiques, polyphoniques et polyrythmiques, s’exprimant bien souvent dans un usage très concertant de l’instrument. Ses recherches harmoniques sont parfois savamment approfondies ou bien restituent un langage plus épuré proche du minimalisme. A travers ses compositions, Thibaud Mennillo nous embarque dans un voyage sensoriel au cœur de son univers intérieur. Un espace immatériel et onirique dans lequel il s’épanouit, toujours au service d’une spontanéité stupéfiante et d’un jeu vigoureux et énergisant, se renouvelant sans cesse, loin des sentiers battus.

Modern pianist, improviser inspired by the motifs of John Coltrane / McCoy Tyner / Keith Jarrett / Thelonious Monk / Chick Corea / Bill Evans / Randy Weston / Ornette Coleman…, Thibaud Mennillo is the grandson of jazz pianist Roger Mennillo, trainer of all a generation of pianists. The improvised piano allows him to exploit all these melodic, polyphonic and polyrhythmic sources of inspiration, often expressing himself in a very concerted use of the instrument. His harmonic research is sometimes skilfully deepened or restores a more refined language close to minimalism. Through his compositions, Thibaud Mennillo takes us on a sensory journey to the heart of his inner universe. An immaterial and dreamlike space in which he flourishes, always at the service of an astonishing spontaneity and a vigorous and energizing game, constantly renewing itself, far from the beaten track.
