EXEKO est un sextet vocal a cappella. Leur nouvel opus rend hommage à Bernard Lavilliers, et le répertoire a entièrement été arrangé par Antoine Delprat. Des arrangements à la fois savants et dépourvus d’artifices, jouant des multiples possibilités qu’offrent la richesse et la variété des voix d’un groupe qui se connaît par cœur, habitué des univers de l’improvisation jazz. Ou comment réinventer le groove épicé du célèbre chanteur, dans une interprétation radicalement différente de l’originale, respectant l’engagement des textes, en en soulignant la modernité dans un monde où les inégalités s’accentuent.

 

In their latest show, the a cappella vocal sextet EXEKO pay tribute to Bernard Lavilliers, the veteran French singer-songwriter. The whole programme is written by Antoine Delprat, whose sophisticated yet unfussy arrangements make the most of the group’s long-standing complicity, vocal range and depth and familiarity with the world of jazz improvisation. Whilst revisiting Lavilliers spicy rhythms in a radically different approach, the new version preserves and underlines the enduring relevance of the activist lyrics to an increasingly discriminatory society.
