Guitariste, chanteur, joueur de oud, compositeur et producteur, Anis Benhallak joue un mélange sophistiqué de jazz contemporain, de rock et de pop inspiré par les traditions d’Afrique du Nord et du Moyen-Orient. Né en Algérie, Anis a grandi dans un environnement multiculturel. Autodidacte, il a commencé la guitare à l’âge de 9 ans, inspiré par Jimi Hendrix, Pat Metheny et Jeff Beck, et s’est ensuite tourné vers le oud et les percussions gnawa. En 2001, à l’âge de 19 ans, il s’installe en France, où il joue avec de nombreux groupes internationaux (Seun Kuti, Leny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Karim Ziad, Les Frères Smith…), avant de rejoindre officiellement le célèbre groupe nigérian d’afrobeat Egyt 80 créé par Fela Kuti. Il sort son premier album Paradoxical Project en 2014 (Bonsai /Sony Music), où l’on retrouve des genres variés allant du jazz à la fusion ethnique. En 2015, il crée son propre label, Miz’art Production, et enregistre Apes Theater 2018, suivi de The Clown Theory 2022 dans lequel il s’exprime en tant que chanteur. En 2023, il enregistre Romanian Folk Dances 2.0 en hommage à Bela Bartok
Guitarist, singer, oud player, composer and producer Anis Benhallak plays a sophisticated mix of contemporary jazz, rock and pop music inspired by North African and Middle Eastern traditions. Born in Algeria, Anis grew up in a multicultural environment, self-taught, he started on guitar at the age of 9 inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Pat Metheny and Jeff Beck and moved to the oud and gnawa percussions. In 2001 at the age of 19, he moved to France, where he played with a number of international groups (Seun Kuti, Leny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Karim Ziad, Les Freres Smith…), before officially joining the famous Nigerian afrobeat group Egyt 80 created by Fela Kuti. He released his first album Paradoxical Project 2014 (Bonsai /Sony Music) displaying various genres from jazz to ethnic fusion. In 2015, he formed his own label, Miz’art Production, and recorded Apes Theater 2018, followed by The Clown Theory 2022 in which he expressed himself as a singer. In 2023 he recorded Romanian Folk Dances 2.0 in tribute to Bela Bartok
