Le saxophoniste américain Casey Benjamin est décédé à 45 ans des suites d’une opération. Originaire de Jamaïque, Casey Benjamin avait joué un rôle décisif dans l’album Black Radio du pianiste Robert Glasper et dans le groupe the Experiment. On avait organiser un concert avec cette équipe au Trianon en mars 2011. Lauréat de deux Grammy Awards, il avait aussi travaillé avec plusieurs artistes au confluent du jazz, du hip-hop et du R&B : Roy Hargrove, Kendrick Lamar, Bilal, ou encore le batteur Marcus Gilmore. Il devait se produire le 19 & 20 avril prochain avec les Honnet Brothers en vu d’un nouvel enregistrement Nous lui rendrons un chaleureux hommage avec ses amis musiciens.
