Amis depuis leur plus tendre enfance, Gérald Portocallis et Adrien de Araujo forment Drama On The Corner en 2016, désireux de réunir toutes leurs influences Jazz et House music, musique électronique à travers laquelle ils se sont découverts une fascination commune pour la disco, la funk et le rare groove à travers les samples utilisés. On comprend immédiatement à quoi aspire le paysage musical de DOTC : des productions modernes et avant-gardistes qui brouillent les lignes sonores entre les instruments électroniques et acoustiques. Le second EP « Orixa » opère un retour aux origines brésiliennes d’Adrien, à la samba funk et au rare groove des années 70.
Friends since early childhood, Gérald Portocallis and Adrien de Araujo formed Drama On The Corner in 2016, wanting to bring together all of their jazz and house influences. Like many a record digger, it was through house music that they discovered a shared fascination for disco, funk and rare groove through samples used by productors. We gain an instant understanding of what DOTC’s musical landscape aspires to: forward-thinking modern productions that obscure the sonic lines between electronic and acoustic instruments. The second EP, ‘Orixa’, marks a return to Adrien’s Brazilian roots, to samba funk and the rare groove of the 1970s.
