Le nouveau power trio de Giovanni Mirabassi rentre en scène avec un projet dédié au Great American Songbook. Entouré de son compagnon de toujours Gianluca Renzi à la contrebasse et du magnifique batteur issue de la nouvelle scène new-yorkaise Colin Stranahan, le soliste se penche sur ce répertoire avec la fraîcheur d’une première fois (il s’agit du premier enregistrement de l’artiste en son nom uniquement dédié à des standards américains) et la maturité acquise en trente ans de carrière. Il résulte de ce baptême du feu des interprétations jouissives entre tradition et modernité.
Giovanni Mirabassi’s new power trio returns to the scene with a project dedicated to the Great American Songbook. Surrounded by his long-time companion Gianluca Renzi on double bass and the magnificent drummer Colin Stranahan, a product of the new New York scene, the soloist tackles this repertoire with the freshness of a first time (this is the artist’s first recording in his own name devoted exclusively to American standards) and the maturity acquired in his thirty-year career. The result of this baptism of fire is a delightful blend of traditional and modern interpretations.
