Le nouveau power trio de Giovanni Mirabassi revient en scène avec un projet dédié au Great American Songbook. Entouré de son compagnon de toujours Gianluca Renzi à la contrebasse et de Colin Stranahan, batteur tout droit issu de la nouvelle scène new-yorkaise, le soliste se penche sur ce répertoire avec la fraîcheur d’une première fois. Il s’agit du premier enregistrement de l’artiste en son nom intégralement dédié aux standards américains et de l’aboutissement d’une maturité artistique acquise en trente ans de carrière.
Il résulte de cette expérience des (ré)interprétations jouissives, enregistrées dans le mythique studio new-yorkais Samurai Hotel par le légendaire ingénieur du son Mike Marciano. Deux autres volumes de cette suite discographique devraient voir le jour annuellement.
Giovanni Mirabassi’s new power trio returns to the scene with a project dedicated to the Great American Songbook. Surrounded by his long-time companion Gianluca Renzi on double bass and Colin Stranahan, a drummer straight out of the new New York scene, the soloist tackles this repertoire with the freshness of a first time. This is the artist’s first recording in his name devoted exclusively to American standards and the culmination of an artistic maturity acquired over a thirty-year career.
This experience gave rise to delightful (re)interpretations, recorded in New York’s mythical Samurai Hotel studio by the legendary sound engineer Mike Marciano. Two further volumes of this discographic suite are due to be released annually.
