Après la sortie de Featuring l’année dernière en quartet, David Sauzay nous présente son nouvel album, Five Stories, avec la participation du regretté Jim Rotondi, disparu en juillet 2024. Enregistré en mai 2024, cet album est le fruit des compositions et de la synergie unique des membres de l’orchestre, offrant une véritable aventure musicale.
Par sa présence et son talent, Jim Rotondi a illuminé ce projet, rappelant combien le jazz est un langage universel, capable de créer des liens profonds et authentiques.
Le quartet de David Sauzay, accompagné du talentueux trompettiste Fabien Mary, interprétera en live le répertoire enregistré lors de cette session unique. Parmi les morceaux, Too Soon to Tell, une composition de Jim Rotondi, trouve une place particulière sur l’album avec Michael Joussein au trombone. Pour le second set de cette soirée hommage à Jim Rotondi, nous rendrons hommage à son héritage musical en jouant certaines de ses compositions écrites pour One For All, le groupe qui a profondément influencé David Sauzay.
After last year’s release of Featuring as a quartet, David Sauzay presents his new album, Five Stories, with the participation of the late Jim Rotondi, who passed away in July 2024. Recorded in May 2024, this album is the fruit of the compositions and unique synergy of the members of the orchestra, offering a true musical adventure.
Jim Rotondi’s presence and talent illuminated this project, reminding us that jazz is a universal language, capable of creating deep, authentic bonds.
David Sauzay’s quartet, accompanied by the talented trumpeter Fabien Mary, will perform live the repertoire recorded during this unique session. Among the tracks, Too Soon to Tell, a composition by Jim Rotondi, finds a special place on the album with Michael Joussein on trombone. For the second set of this Jim Rotondi tribute evening, we pay tribute to his musical heritage by playing some of his compositions written for One For All, the band that profoundly influenced David Sauzay.
