Linda Sikhakhane est un saxophoniste, compositeur et arrangeur sud-africain. Né dans le township d’Umlazi près de Durban, sa passion pour la musique s’est éveillée dès son plus jeune âge. À 10 ans, il a commencé à suivre des cours de musique à l’école primaire, puis a pris des leçons de jazz sous la direction du Dr Brian Thusi au Siyakhula Music Center de son quartier. En 2012, il a obtenu un diplôme en jazz et musique populaire à l’Université de Kwa-Zulu Natal, sous la direction du Professeur Mageshen Naidoo.
Sikhakhane a joué et enregistré avec des artistes sud-africains et internationaux respectés tels que Brian Thusi, Barney Rachabane, Feya Faku, Marcus Wyatt, Herbie Tsoaeli, Andile Yenana, Nduduzo Makhathini, Afrika Mkhize, Sibongile Khumalo, Gregory Potter, Reggie Workman, et bien d’autres. En 2016, il a remporté la bourse SAMRO Overseas Scholarship et a sorti son premier album intitulé *Two Sides, One Mirror* en 2017.
Linda a déménagé à New York en 2017 et s’est inscrit à l’Université The New School en tant qu’étudiant transféré pour terminer son diplôme de bachelor en jazz, où il étudie avec les grands Billy Harper, David Schnitter et Reggie Workman.
Linda Sikhakhane is a South African born saxophonist, composer and arranger. He was born in Umlazi Township near Durban where his love for music was triggered at an early age. This saw him attending music classes at the age of 10 in Junior Primary and later took up jazz lessons under the tutelage of Dr Brian Thusi at the Siyakhula Music Center in his neighborhood . He obtained a Diploma in Jazz /Popular Music at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal under Prof Mageshen Naidoo in 2012.
Sikhakhane has played and recorded with respected South African and international artists such as Brian Thusi,Barney Rachabane, Feya Faku, Marcus Wyatt, Herbie Tsoaeli, Andile Yenana, Nduduzo Makhathini, Afrika Mkhize, Sibongile Khumalo, Gregory Potter,Reggie Workman and many more.Sikhakhane won the SAMRO Overseas Scholarship in 2016 and in 2017 released his debut album titled ‘Two Sides ,One Mirror’.
Linda re-located to New York in 2017 and enrolled at The New School University as a transfer student to complete his Bachelors degree in jazz ,he is studying with the great Billy Harper, David Schnitter & Reggie Workman.
