Autant d’impressions collectées au gré des périples du pianiste-compositeur Alexis Bajot-Nercessian et qui innervent les compositions du groupe LOWN. Un jazz contemporain effervescent, et qui fait assurément voyager.
Finalistes du tremplin La Défense Jazz Festival 2018, en tournée en Asie Centrale (festivals internationaux) et en europe les années suivantes, LOWN a multiplié les collaborations pour devenir un projet à géométrie variable, du trio (contrebasse, batterie, piano) au sextet (avec flûte, trompette et percussions). Après un premier album salué par la presse, LOWN revient présenter un nouveau répertoire poétique – et jubilatoire – alliant mélodies fluides et rythmiques tranchantes, quelquepart entre orient, balkans et amérique latine.
LOWN joue avec les contrastes pour emmener là où l’on ne s’attend pas aller.
A breath on the steppes of Central Asia, percussion in the bustling streets of Caracas, or the blue domes of the mosques of Samarkand. These are just some of the impressions gathered by pianist-composer Alexis Bajot-Nercessian during his travels, and which inform the compositions of the group LOWN. An effervescent contemporary jazz that’s sure to take you on a journey.
Finalists in the La Défense Jazz Festival 2018 springboard, touring Central Asia (international festivals) and Europe in the following years, LOWN has multiplied collaborations to become a project of variable geometry, from trio (double bass, drums, piano) to sextet (with flute, trumpet and percussion). After a first album that was hailed by the press, LOWN is back with a new poetic – and jubilant – repertoire, combining fluid melodies and sharp rhythms, somewhere between the East, the Balkans and Latin America.
LOWN plays with contrasts to take you where you least expect to go.
