Sharon Clark est native de Washington DC. Elle s’est produite dans les plus grandes salles des Etats-Unis sur un répertoire de jazz qu’elle maîtrise à merveille à l’instar de ses grandes aînées, Sarah Vaughan, Shirley Horn, Nancy Wilson…
Elle tourne maintenant régulièrement dans le monde entier : Suède, France, Italie, Espagne, Suisse, Afrique du Sud, Argentine, Turquie, au Kirghizistan, en Russie, en Israël…
Formée au Berklee College of Music de Boston, elle remporte la Billie Holiday Vocal Competition de Baltimore en 2007. 20 ans après ses débuts discographiques avec Finally, elle consacre ce 2° album à un hommage à Shirley Horn, la grande dame de Washington, disparue 2 ans plus tôt et dont Sharon était l’amie proche.
Saluée par le Washington Post comme « la plus belle voix de Washington », elle remporte les Bistro Awards en 2014. Elle a, depuis, enregistré un 3° album dont le titre lui va comme un gant, Soulful Serenity.
Depuis maintenant plus de 10 ans, Sharon se produit régulièrement avec le magnifique swingman et très dynamique pianiste suédois Mattias Nilsson avec qui elle a construit une grande complicité musicale.
Sharon Clark is a native of Washington DC. She has performed in some of the biggest concert halls in the USA, playing a jazz repertoire that she has mastered to perfection, following in the footsteps of her great elders: Sarah Vaughan, Shirley Horn, Nancy Wilson…
She now tours regularly all over the world: Sweden, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, Argentina, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Israel…
Trained at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, she won the Billie Holiday Vocal Competition in Baltimore in 2007. 20 years after her recording debut with Finally, she dedicates this 2nd album to a tribute to Shirley Horn, the grande dame of Washington, who died 2 years earlier and of whom Sharon was a close friend.
Hailed by the Washington Post as “the most beautiful voice in Washington”, she won the Bistro Awards in 2014. Since then, she has recorded a 3rd album, Soulful Serenity, whose title fits her like a glove.
For over 10 years now, Sharon has been performing regularly with the magnificent swingman and dynamic Swedish pianist Mattias Nilsson, with whom she has built up a great musical complicity.
