Le Sorin Zlat Trio est l’un des projets de jazz contemporain les plus en vue de Roumanie, avec un calendrier bien rempli de concerts sur des scènes internationales prestigieuses. Fondé en 2008 par le pianiste et compositeur Sorin Zlat, le trio est réputé pour sa sonorité moderne, son équilibre entre lyrisme, énergie et improvisation, ainsi que pour son approche unique de la réinterprétation de la tradition jazzistique. Au fil des ans, le trio s’est produit dans des festivals et des salles de renom tels que le Montreux Jazz Festival, le London Jazz Festival, le Jacksonville Jazz Festival, le Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club à Londres, le Blue Note Jazz Club et le Birdland à New York, où il n’a cessé de remporter les éloges tant du public que de la critique.
En 2025, le pianiste roumain Sorin Zlat a commencé à travailler sur son nouvel album, *Changing Times*, qui comprend des compositions originales. Le projet *Changing Times* marque une nouvelle étape dans sa maturité artistique et offre un avant-goût du prochain album de Sorin Zlat. Le répertoire se compose de compositions originales et d’arrangements écrits par Sorin Zlat, mêlant des influences de cool jazz, de post-bop, de jazz contemporain, de musique de film, de musique électronique et des accents d’avant-garde, le tout intégré dans un discours musical cohérent, moderne et expressif.
S’appuyant sur un dialogue constant entre le piano, la contrebasse et la batterie, le trio propose des compositions originales qui allient le lyrisme mélodique à la liberté d’improvisation et à la souplesse rythmique, caractéristiques du jazz contemporain. La musique oscille entre des moments introspectifs et des passages d’une énergie intense, en maintenant toujours un équilibre entre structure et spontanéité.
L’un des éléments distinctifs du projet réside dans l’intégration de textures électroniques et d’éléments de conception sonore, qui élargissent la palette timbrale du trio et créent un univers sonore cinématographique, tout en préservant le caractère organique et improvisé du jazz.
Au fil du temps, le Sorin Zlat Trio a sorti les albums *Endurance* et *The Land of Dreams*. *Changing Times* s’inscrit dans la continuité de cette évolution artistique, proposant une musique vivante, actuelle et profondément communicative, ancrée dans le présent.

The Sorin Zlat Trio is one of Romania’s most prominent contemporary jazz projects, with a busy schedule of concerts at prestigious international venues. Founded in 2008 by pianist and composer Sorin Zlat, the trio is renowned for its modern sound, its balance of lyricism, energy, and improvisation, as well as its unique approach to reinterpreting the jazz tradition. Over the years, the trio has performed at renowned festivals and venues such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the London Jazz Festival, the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, the Blue Note Jazz Club, and Birdland in New York, where it has consistently garnered praise from both audiences and critics alike.

In 2025, Romanian pianist Sorin Zlat started working on his new album Changing Times, which contains original works. The project Changing Times marks a new stage of artistic maturity and represents a preview of Sorin Zlat’s upcoming album. The repertoire consists of original compositions and arrangements written by Sorin Zlat, blending influences of cool jazz, post-bop, contemporary jazz, cinematic (film) music, electronic music, and avant-garde accents, integrated into a coherent, modern, and expressive musical discourse.
Built on constant dialogue between piano, double bass, and drums, the trio proposes original compositions that combine melodic lyricism with improvisational freedom and flexible rhythm, characteristic of contemporary jazz. The music oscillates between introspective moments and passages of intense energy, always maintaining a balance between structure and spontaneity.
